Oberlin Paper Retriever Bins

Oberlin Public Library, Eastwood School, Oberlin Elementary, Langston and Oberlin High Schools; Oberlin Enrichment Activities Center; Splash Zone; Kendal at Oberlin; Oberlin College –Stevenson Hall & Service Building. Residents can recycle all mixed papers, phone books, shredded papers (place in clear, plastic bag & secure) and empty, broken down cardboard boxes in the green & yellow paper retriever bins at these locations. City Hall85 S. Main St., front entrance –

Residents can drop-off for recycling CFL & LED bulbs; tooth brushes, empty toothpaste tubes & floss containers and their packaging, metal lids & PakTech Ring Carriers.


Lorain County Solid Waste Management District drive-thru Collection Center located at 540 S. Abbe Road in Elyria is currently open on Mondays – 9am-3pm, Wednesdays – 12pm-6pm and Saturdays – 9am-3pm.

Household Hazardous Waste (including aerosol cans), E-Scrap (Computers, TV’s & Other Electronics), Fluorescent Lamps, Tubes, Ballasts, Rechargeable Batteries, Ink/toner Cartridges, Scrap Tires, All Vegetable-based Cooking Oils, End of Life Books & much more can be recycled at the county’s Collection Center. Residents can also drop-off curbside, recyclable items (#1 & #2 plastic bottles and jugs; metal, aluminum & bi-metal cans; mixed paper and cardboard) at the Collection Center during hours of operation.

Oberlin Community Services – 

Drop-off unexpired canned goods, pasta, peanut butter, or other nonperishables food items during regular office hours, we’d gladly accept them!


Walmart, Giant Eagle & Kohl’s

All 3 stores accept #2 & #4 plastic bags. In addition, Walmart accepts bubble wrap, plastic shipping bags & product over wrap (film wrap); Giant Eagle accepts newspaper bags, dry cleaning bags, bread & produce bags and wraps.

Film wrap is the plastic wrapping around bulk package products. Bags & film wraps must be clean & dry.


UPS Store
Clean airbags, bubble wrap & #1 Renewliner fiber padding can be taken to any UPS store for reuse.
Please, no peanuts of any kind.


Residential Composting Program
The City of Oberlin has partnered with Barnes Nursery to offer residents a food waste composting program. More information can be found here.


Advance Auto Parts –
Drop-off (up to 5 gallons per drop), motor oil, brake, hydraulic, power steering & transmission fluids for proper disposal.


Cleveland Clinic – Cole Eye West – 309 W. Lorain Street:

Drop-off and donate kid & adult eye glasses (prescription, readers, sun) at the Lions Recycle for Sight donation box during regular business hours.

 


Oberlin Police Department –
Old, outdated and/or unused medication can be dropped-off and placed in the metal collection container in the Lobby – available 24/7.


Vinyl Siding Recycling – Vinyl siding and its associated trim pieces can be dropped off at 16909 State Route 58 Oberlin. Behind the center building there are containers ready to receive these items. Open 7am – 7pm, M-F.


Furniture and seasonal clothing –
Goodwill Industries of Lorain County, Thrift store, 14910 RT 58, Oberlin; 440-774-4919; Planet Aid drop-off boxes accepts the following clean items in their yellow bins: clothing, shoes, bedding, towels and curtains, sleeping bags, sock underwear & bras.
