Fire Prevention and Public Education
The Fire Inspection Bureau inspects all businesses, commercial, and industrial occupancies as well as schools and other public buildings. The goal is to inspect at least 2 time per year. In 2005, the bureau completed 296 inspections.

Fire and Life Safety Through Public Education" is emphasized to reduce the risk of major fire damage ever occurring. The Fire Department teaches courses to residents of all ages. The Fire Department also works closely with schools, conducting fire prevention programs to 90% of all pre-school, kindergarten, first and second grade classes in Oberlin.

The Fire Department was recognized in 2006 for the ninth year with the prestigious Life Safety Achievement Award for our fire prevention and education programs. Call the Fire Department if you would like more program information visit our detailed web site at www.oberlin-fire.com
