In 2007, after participating in an engineering study and discussing our community’s future power needs, the Oberlin City Council voted to approve entering into a contract to participate in the American Municipal Power Generating Station project. The City Council voted to commit to a nine megawatt share in the 1,000 megawatt project. The contract left open until March 1, 2008 the option to change the level of the City’s participation.

Over the past two meetings, the City Council has considered two ordinances related to this project. One would withdraw completely from the project. The other would increase participation from nine to 10 megawatts. The City Council welcomes your input at or before the February 19, 2008 City Council meeting. You may contact the City Council in the following ways:

  • By letter: You may send a letter with your input on this, or any topic, to the City Council by addressing it to the Oberlin City Council, 85 South Main Street, Oberlin, OH 44074. If your letter concerns City services or operations, please send a copy of your letter for the City Manager.
  • By e-mail: You may e-mail the City Council. For each of the Councilmembers, their corresponding user name is shown. When entering the e-mail address into your e-mail message, please place “@cityofoberlin.com” after each user name. For example: username@cityofoberlin.com
