In 2007, after participating in an engineering study and discussing our community’s future power needs, the Oberlin City Council voted to approve entering into a contract to participate in the American Municipal Power Generating Station project. The City Council voted to commit to a nine megawatt share in the 1,000 megawatt project. The contract left open until March 1, 2008 the option to change the level of the City’s participation.
Over the past two meetings, the City Council has considered two ordinances related to this project. One would withdraw completely from the project. The other would increase participation from nine to 10 megawatts. The City Council welcomes your input at or before the February 19, 2008 City Council meeting.
