Darlene Colaso, Assistant City Manager/Human Resources Administrator
Darlene Colaso was hired as the City of Oberlin’s first Assistant City Manager and Human Resources Administrator in October 2008. While an HR Generalist, she is also a Worker Occupational Safety & Health Specialist, certified by the University of California at Berkeley and has a Juris Doctor from John F. Kennedy University School of Law in Walnut Creek, California.
Darlene has more than 20 years of human resources expertise with the last five in municipal government service. She served as the Deputy City Clerk for the City of Norwich, New York and as the Town Clerk/Assistant to the Town Manager and as the Human Resources/Risk Manager for the Town of Moraga in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California.
Sharon Pearson, Administrative Coordinator for City Manager/Human Resources Administrator
Sharon Pearson has worked for the City of Oberlin since 1987, in various positions throughout the City. Currently, she splits her time as the Administrative Coordinator to the Human Resources Administrator and the Administrative Coordinator to the City Manager.
Born and raised in Oberlin, Sharon attended Oberlin High School and completed Computers and Accounting training at Lorain County Joint Vocational School (“JVS”), here in Oberlin. Sharon has completed her Associates Degree in Business Administration during the Spring (2010) from University of Phoenix and this fall (2010) will begin her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management. Sharon has coordinated various community events including Oberlin’s annual Pride Day, the 150th Anniversary of the Oberlin-Wellington Rescue and the America In Bloom Program (which Oberlin eventually won in 2006!). Currently, Sharon serves as a Board Member of Visit Lorain County, which promotes travel and tourism throughout Lorain County. She is also an active member of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP). Their mission is to enhance the success of career-minded administrative professionals through education, community building and leadership development.
