Q. When is the next Council Meeting?
A. Council
Meetings are on the first and third Mondays of each month with the exception of holidays and the summer schedule.

Building Department
Q. Do I need to submit plans or obtain a permit for my home
improvement or building project?
A. Residential Building Permits are needed for
construction, demolition, alteration and repair projects. Click here to see the details of the process.
Q. Do I need a permit for my pool, fence, shed, etc.
A. Like larger home improvement projects, these types of
projects also require Residential Building

Planning Department
Q. What are the setback requirements for buildings on my lot?
A. Setback
requirements vary depending on the zoning of your lot. Once you obtain the zoning designation of your lot you can
refer to Chapter 13 of the Oberlin Code to see details
for your district.
Q. Do I need a permit to put up a sign?
A. Most signs require
a permit however there are a few that do not. Refer to Section 1351 of the Oberlin Code for details.
Q. What is the zoning of my property?
A. The City
Zoning Map is currently under review. Once approved, the map will be posted to
the website. In the meantime you may contact
the Planning Department (440) 775-7182
to
obtain the zoning designation for your property.
Public Works
Q. When will brush be picked up on my street?
A. Brush
collection is provided one month in the spring and one month in the fall of
each year. Please check the
Public Works Refuse & Recycling section of this site for further details.
Q. How do I schedule a large trash pickup?
A.
For
residents the City provides one (2 cu. yd.) large trash pick-up per year at no
cost on
an appointment basis. Please check

site for further details.
Q. When will leaves be picked up?
A.
Leaves
collection is scheduled every fall generally starting at the end of October.

Q. What do I do with yard waste?
A. The City
collects bagged yard waste on Monday mornings by appointment only. Tags for
yard waste may be purchased at eh Utility
Office at
69 S. Main St.

Recreation
Q. How do I reserve a park for a family event?
A.
To reserve
one of our many parks for your event simply fill out the
Park Request Form and
submit it to the Recreation Office at
69 South Main Street.
Q. How do I register for a program?
A.
Registration
is taken my mail, in person, or online by filling out the proper program
registration form.
