OUR DEFINITION OF RECREATION


Activities which develop skills that provide the incentive, motivation, and means for spending leisure time constructively. As such, recreation must be concerned with the breadth and variety of activities: physical, social, artistic and learning.


THE MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Oberlin Recreation Department is to improve the quality of life for all residents of the Oberlin community by providing equal opportunity for a wide variety of leisure and cultural activities, special events, facilities, and services that encourage health, fitness, relaxation, and enjoyment. In addition, the purpose of this department is to work cooperatively with other appropriate entities which will provide recreational opportunities for broader community involvement.

Permission to use parks for
special event can be obtained by
filling out a Park Request Form
and submitting to the
Recreation Office.


 
The challenge for Oberlin is a more

PARKS & RECREATION STRATEGIC PLAN:
           
             
The City of Oberlin has contracted with The EDGE Group from Columbus, Ohio to prepare a
Parks & Recreation Strategic Plan. The intent of the planning process is to concise a clear and concise set of goals, policies and objectives that will provide strategic direction for the future development and enhancement of the City's parks and the recreational facilities, programs and service based on public priorities.

                   The community should be on the look out for more information about the Parks & Recreation Strategic Plan and way's they can become involved. The Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan is ready for community input.
