First Energy
Planned City-Wide Power Outage

There will be a city-wide power outage in order for First Energy to make necessary repairs.  The outage will take place during the night to cause minimal disruptions.

Saturday, October 2, 2021
From Approximately 12:00am – 4:00am

Alerts regarding the power outage will be provided by the City through our emergency alert system, WENS (Wireless Emergency Notification System).

Please click on the button below to register for WENS or contact the Oberlin Fire Department at 440-774-3211 to register over the phone.

WENS allows you to choose how to receive alerts (text messages, voicemail, and/or email) and allows the City to send you targeted alerts of situations affecting your neighborhood, in addition to citywide alerts.

NOTE: WENS has replaced the Reverse 911 & CodeRED notification systems.  Registrations from these systems cannot be transferred, so you will need to register with WENS to receive emergency alerts.

Community members are also encouraged to follow us on Facebook and Twitter or visit for any updates regarding the power outage.

Please note that emergency services will not be interrupted during the power outage.
Please plan accordingly for the power outage and we appreciate your patience during these repairs.
